CONTINUOUS MICROWAVE STERILISATION
TECHNOLOGY EVALUATION
NZ vegetable processor & Food Industry Partners
The Project
A New Zealand vegetable processor required a detailed evaluation of a continuous microwave technology to provide a competitive advantage for their operations. The client sought assessment of the technology's suitability for their product range, regulatory compliance requirements, and commercial viability for the New Zealand market.
Our Approach
Foodscope conducted on-site trials at the technology provider’s USA facility over four days. We performed a system assessment covering equipment design, hygienic standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance considerations. Trials were conducted across a range of products, with detailed assessment of processing capabilities, time-temperature profiles, product sensory, and comparison with conventional thermal processing technologies.
Results Achieved
Delivered a comprehensive technical assessment of the technology. Detailed New Zealand regulatory compliance requirements, identified system upgrades required for the clients products, and provided information regarding the advantages and disadvantages of the technology. Successfully verified the technology's capability for high-viscosity and particulate products while defining potential options for scale-up from pilot to commercial production.
