RETORT VALIDATIONs
FOOD SAFETY & PROCESS VALIDATION
FoodBowl
The Projects
FoodBowl regularly engages DWC FoodTech NZ to conduct thermal process validations for their food and beverage clients. These validations cover a range of food products across multiple packaging formats including aluminium cans, flexible pouches, and glass bottles. Food manufacturers utilise FoodBowl's facilities and DWC FoodTech NZ's expertise to test product feasibility and ensure compliance with MPI and international regulatory requirements for low-acid commercially sterilised foods.
Our Approach
Foodscope serves as DWC FoodTech NZ's primary subcontractor, delivering thermal process validation solutions tailored to each client's requirements. Our methodology begins with temperature distribution studies to identify worst-case heating locations within the retort based on the packaging type, followed by heat penetration trials to evaluate various product formulations and determine critical product and process parameters. All validation work is completed to the required regulatory requirements such as MPI or FDA.
Results Achieved
Successfully developed thermal processing schedules across multiple products, enabling food manufacturers to achieve commercial sterility whilst maintaining product integrity. Established validated processing parameters, critical control points, and monitoring protocols for diverse client applications spanning ready-to-eat meals, beverages, and specialty food products. Under DWC FoodTech NZ, the validation work provides FoodBowl's clients with the regulatory confidence and technical documentation required for commercial production.
