Relocation Assessment

PROCESS RELOCATION ASSESSMENT

FEASIBILITY STUDY
NZ Plant Based Food Manufacturer

The Project

A NZ plant-based food manufacturer engaged Foodscope to conduct a feasibility study for relocating their production from contract manufacturers to their existing facility. The client needed to assess facility upgrade requirements, determine optimal layout concepts, and establish accurate cost estimates for bringing these product lines in-house to reduce manufacturing costs whilst maintaining food safety standards and production efficiency.

Our Approach

Foodscope conducted detailed process mapping for all product streams, analysing production volumes, equipment requirements, and site service capacities. We developed three distinct layout concepts utilising different areas of the existing facility, each assessed for building works, utility upgrades, process flow optimisation, and food safety considerations. Our evaluation considered critical hygiene area design, allergen management, and a cost analysis with supplier estimates for equipment and infrastructure.

Results Achieved

Successfully delivered a feasibility report outlining three potential relocation concepts with associated cost estimates. The report identified both an optimal concept for production efficiency and an alternative for cost-effectiveness. The report established critical upgrade requirements including electrical infrastructure, compressed air systems, water supply, and waste system upgrades. Provided a roadmap addressing critical hygiene requirements, allergen management protocols, and food safety considerations for a successful transition.
